Holidays
The holidays are here and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it.
Thursday night we had some friends over and while we were partying, a cyclone hit southwest Bangladesh and killed a bunch of people. A little bit of that story was news on Friday, but gone by Saturday. Instead we got to hear Bush talking about ways to deal with airport congestion during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Bangladesh is a place that’s suffering the consequences of global warming in real and terrible ways now. Much of the country is lowlands that are densely populated and are now being depopulated. Where will they go?
While we pack on those airplanes like cattle in a truck bound for slaughter and tear the sky apart spewing jet engine exhaust from sea to shining sea, let’s try to imagine that something other than America exists and to thank the earth for its many and varied bountiful harvests.
How’s your weather?
Our’s is bizarre.
